May Students of the Month

SAISD - Students of the Month for May

Elementary School:

The Pre-K Student of the Month for May was Emily DeJesus-Martinez. Emily is in the class of Lisa Crouch and Jodi Hoffman. She is very smart, she can count to 100 and recognize numbers 0-30. She knows how to read and even write sentences with correct spacing between the words. Emily is the daughter of Laurita and Paulino Martinez, and has one older sister, Isabel with whom she likes to play. Emily is very artistic and also loves to draw pictures with her sister. When she grows up, she wants to be a doctor.

The Kindergarten Student of the Month for May was Jade Gomez.  Jade is a sweet little girl that loves pleasing her teacher. Jade entered the Kindergarten program knowing very few letters, sounds or numbers. She now knows ALL letters, sounds, can read 123 sight words (TEKS only require kinder to know 25), is reading on a 1st grade level, and can count to 100. Mrs. Bennett says that she is pleased with her progress, and cannot wait to see what her future holds. Jade is the daughter of Veronica Castro and Jose Gomez.

The 1st grade Student of the Month for May was Destinee Jenkins. Destinee’s favorite subject is Math, and she enjoys helping her mom in the garden and helping her dad mow the yard, and riding her bike. She also enjoys playing with her dog and taking care of it.   Destinee is the daughter of Farlesha and Kendrick Jenkins, and she is in Ms. Melba Pahal’s homeroom.

The 2nd grade Student of the Month for May was Re’Yanna Davis. Re’Yanna is always willing to help in or outside of the classroom. She always represents SAES with pride in school and in the community. Re’Yanna does a wonderful job of uplifting those around her with an encouraging smile or uplifting words. She is patient with people in her groups and tries to include everyone’s ideas. Second grade is proud to have Re’Yanna as our student of the month!  Re’Yanna is the daughter of Ashley Crawford and ReDaryll Davis, and is in Katie Warner’s homeroom.

The 3rd grade Student of the Month for May was Elexis Eddington. Elexis is a kind person with a sweet personality, and certainly has the most school spirit! She is a hard worker and does her best in everything. Social studies is her best subject, but she does quite well in all of them. In her spare time, she enjoys swimming and drawing. She loves Saturdays, the color yellow, and the number 19. Elexis is the daughter of Ginger Nichols and Scott Eddington, and she is in Ms. Linda Skadowski’s homeroom.

The 4th grade Student of the Month for May was Kayson Smith.  Kayson is a very good student that works hard and follows directions. Kayson’s favorite subject is reading. He loves to read, and another of his favorites is recess. After school he likes to go outside and imagine that his home is Mario’s castle. Kayson dreams of one day turning the school into a church, he says we really need church here! Kayson is the son of Kim Smith and Zachary Lane and is he is in Mrs. Tiffany Lozoya’s class.

The 5th grade Student of the Month for May was De’Jermyiah Barnes. De’Jermyiah likes to go outside and play kickball or watch you tube videos. What she likes most about school is how competitive we are in all sports and she likes our spirit, colors, and pride. Her favorite subject is Math because it is fun and she always learns something new. When she gets older she wants to be a doctor. De’Jermyiah is the daughter of Tiffany and Adrian Barnes and her teachers are Jessica Fuller, Jennifer Morton, and Ashley Burks.

 

Middle School:

The 6th grade Student of the Month for May was Daniel Prado.  Daniel is the son of Santiago and Alejandra Prado.  His teachers said, “Daniel is consistently respectful, hardworking and kind.”  Daniel’s favorite subject is math and his favorite teacher is Ms. Meier because she allows you to have fun and joke a bit in her classroom.  In his free time, Daniel enjoys playing games.  Daniel hasn’t made any plans beyond high school, but still has plenty of time to think about it!

The 7th grade Student of the Month for May was Olivia Crowder.  Olivia it the daughter of Anthony Crowder and Beverly Burrell.  Her teachers said, “She is an excellent student who comes to school to get an education.  She loves to draw and is an awesome artist.  Her classmates ask her to do the art work for all of their projects.  She is a dedicated student who is well mannered and who is always willing to help others.”  Olivia’s favorite subject is science and her favorite teacher is Ms. Hagler because she’s a funny and nice teacher.  In her free time, Olivia enjoys playing basketball and drawing.  Olivia plans to go to LSU after she finishes high school and hopefully one day become a pediatrician.

The 8th grade Student of the Month for May was JaToryia Barnes.  JaToryia is the daughter of Jacqueline and Tory Barnes.  Her teachers said, “She has been an outstanding and dedicated student all year.  Her dedication has gained her noticeable academic growth.  She is also always prepared and eager to learn as well as help others.  Ji has been a joy to have in class this year!”  JaToryia’s favorite subject is math and her favorite teacher is Mrs. Herrera because she is open to teaching you in the way you will understand.  JaToryia participates in basketball, volleyball and track.  In her free time, she loves shopping and having fun with her family.  JaToryia plans to attend the University of Texas after high school and study to become an OB/GYN.

 

High School:

The 9th grade Student of the Month for May was America Adame.  America is the daughter of Antonio and Felipa Adame.  Her teachers said, “America has been working incredibly hard on keeping her grades up in all of her classes.  She comes into class early most mornings to work on homework.  America is a delight to have in the classroom and has such a sweet personality.” America’s favorite subject is math and her favorite teacher is Mrs. Erath because she’s someone who you can always depend on.  America hasn’t made any plans beyond high school, but she does know that she wants to go to college.

The 10th grade Student of the Month for May was Khloie Hilton.  Khloie is the daughter of Michael and Amanda Hilton.  Her teachers said, “Khloie has shown tremendous growth this year academically and she has become a valuable leader in her extracurricular activities.  Khloie has been a very active member of Student Council and Interact Club, participating in many projects to better our school and community. As an FFA officer, Khloie is a hard worker and is very supportive of other members.  She is known as someone that is always willing to help.”  Khloie’s favorite subject is English and her favorite teacher is Mrs. Seale because she is a really nice and fun teacher.  Khloie is involved in Student Council, Interact Club, Art Club, 4-H and FFA.  In her free time, she enjoys doing anything and everything related to FFA.  After high school, Khloie plans to go to SFA and become a RN.

The 11th grade Student of the Month for May was Kody Page.  Kody is the son of Angela Sowell.  His teachers said, “Kody is a joy to have in class.  His work ethic and desire to learn are second to none.  He greets every challenge that is presented to him with enthusiasm and is eager to push the limits of his skills in order to grow.  His smile and demeanor are enough to put a smile on your face and you rarely see him without a smile on his.  His attitude and work ethic are why he has been nominated for Student of the Month!” Kody’s favorite class is Ag and his favorite teacher is Mr. Harrison because he always teaches his class how to build something new and allows his students to make all kinds of things.  Kody is involved in football, baseball and Ag Mechanics.  In his free time, he enjoys welding, hunting and fishing.  Kody plans to become a welder and work on a pipeline if he doesn’t get a chance to go to play college football.

The 12th grade Student of the Month for May was Emily Holmes. Emily is the daughter of Deshanna and James Holmes.  Her teachers said, “Emily is very studious in class.  She is engaged in all assignments and has a great attitude.”  Emily’s favorite subjects are art and pre-calculus and her favorite teacher is Mrs. Seale because she is very sweet and know how to talk to people. Emily is involved in track, basketball and is a member of National Honor Society.  In her free time, she enjoys drawing, cooking and listening to music.  Now that she has finished high school, Emily plans to go to college and become an electrical engineer.
