GT Students Win at Republic of Texas Art Contest

The Gifted and Talented students received first, second and third place in the Republic of Texas Art Contest sponsored by the Daughters of the Republic of Texas in Austin. Mrs. Henly and the students attended an awards ceremony at the state capitol in Austin on Saturday, April 7th. The students had to extensively research historical events in Texas prior to 1850 and create artwork with historical facts that depicts the event or person.

1st place Joshua Olgesby, 2nd place Kristina Watts, and 3rd place Maggie Miller.

Third Nine Weeks Awesome Authors

SA Elementary School is proud to announce the "Awesome Authors" for the third nine weeks. "Awesome Authors" are chosen from each grade level at the end of each nine-week period by their teachers. Students' work is displayed in the main hallway for everyone to enjoy. Great Job and write along!

Jump Rope for Heart 2018

San Augustine Elementary School would like to thank everyone who contributed or donated to the annual Jump Rope for Heart 2018 event held on March 23rd. The elementary school years encompass a time when children should establish a strong foundation for movement skills. These are also the years when positive learning experiences can help establish a positive attitude and appreciation for participating in regular, daily physical activity for life. There were 100 students from Kindergarten - 5th grade that participated in the event and together they raised about $2,000.
