Our student council was awarded SWEEPSTAKES recognition from the Texas Association of Student Councils. They earned this award with various projects demonstrating high achievement (and hundreds of hours of volunteer time) in the following areas: Drug&Alcohol Safety &Health - Pride and Patriotism - Energy and Environment - Outstanding Community Service. This year's student council carries on a tradition of excellence as this marks the twelfth time our student council has won SWEEPSTAKES since 2009. CONGRATULATIONS to this year's High School Student Council on such well-deserved RECOGNITION! GO WOLVES!

San Augustine ISD and the entire Wolf Nation community honor William "Bub" Johnson and his legacy of service to our district and to our entire community. A life-long learner, Mr. Johnson left an enduring impression on our schools in serving on the school board for over 40 years. A dedicated servant to the district, his commitment to education and his genuine care for our students, staff, and families made a lasting impact on San Augustine ISD. He served with integrity, humility, and a deep sense of responsibility, always striving to do what was best for our children. Thank you Bub Johnson for all that you accomplished and the impact you made through the years on our staff, teachers, and students. We join with the countless others in keeping Mr. William "Bub" Johnson, his family and his friends in our prayers.

Four members of the San Augustine High School speaking squad competed at the UIL Academics District Tournament at SFASU on March 27th. All 4 competitors advanced to finals and medaled in the top 6. Two students have advanced to the regional meet at Panola (April 24th) with a chance to advance to state competitions and the other two will advance as alternates. The SAHS champions include: Amelia Heatwole, 3rd place at District and Regional competitor in prose; Synia Garner, 3rd place at District and Regional competitor in poetry; Anna Wiggins, 4th place at District and Regional alternate in persuasive speaking; and, Nevaeh Bluford, 4th place at District and Regional alternate in prose. Only first and second place in each of five events qualify for regionals and we swept both places in girls singles and boys doubles. In Girls Singles Autumn McCallum placed first and Aura Hernandez placed second. In boys Doubles, Cole Currey and Josh Amburn placed first while Troy Currey and Josh Oglesby placed second. Danny Hernandez placed 4th in Boys Singles and Nick Ferrao finished 6th. Mackenzie Hernandez and Alex Fabian placed 4th in Mixed Doubles. Our girls team overall was Runner-Up in the contest. CONGRATULATIONS to the entire squad! Serve Hard-Play Smart and GOOD LUCK @ REGIONS!

All offices and schools are closed this Friday and following Monday (April 3 & 6) . School resumes on Tuesday, April 7th. Be safe and enjoy the Easter break!
