My name is Deborah Evans, and I am the District Instructional Coach for SAISD. As an instructional coach, I make sure that any new or new to the district teachers have the support they need to implement district initiatives and programs. Providing job embedded professional development, mentoring teachers to improve classroom instruction, analyzing student data to diagnose student instructional needs, observing lessons with follow up feedback, and modeling and planning lessons are just a few of the responsibilities that I have to support our staff. Although new teachers are my first focus, I am also available to collaborate with any teachers within the district. This is my 19th year as an educator. I received a Bachelors of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1999 with specializations in Reading and English. My certification includes first grade through eighth grade self-contained with an additional ESL endorsement. In 2017, I received my Master of Education in Administration from Lamar University and obtained a principal certification the same year. I served as the Acting Assistant Principal for San Augustine Elementary for a short time before accepting this position. San Augustine has been my home for 42 years. My husband, my two sons and I are all proud graduates of San Augustine High School. I love this community and the students we serve each day!
